We supported our community in different ways. We ran activities in the community room, where adults from the local community learnt new skills, gained confidence and met others.
Sometimes, hardship can feel overwhelming, but the Friends of Hannah More believed that celebration and creativity bring huge benefits – even at the most difficult of times. New experiences, enjoyed together, reminded us that we share a universal human experience. We found new connections, felt welcomed and built new friendships.
Recent feedback, from our cooking group (run with Travelling Kitchen) highlighted this: 'I so appreciated the opportunity to cook, chat and bond with other parents.' ' Thank you ladies. We really enjoy and love your workshops.' ' I like this course because it is very diverse - I feel more welcomed, respected and belonged. With my journey during asylum process this class was the first time when I tasted fresh, tasty, hot food. To live far from family is hard... this community kitchen was the first place where I felt peaceful. It helped my mental health be better ... 'I feel like this is my safe space...'
This year we supported 3 courses for adults in the community room adjacent to school. We aimed to reach out to people new to the community and people who had not attended these courses before.

We linked families to support and opportunities across the city.
For example, eight people came to hear from Avon Fire and Safety about the home visits programme, and ways of staying safe from fire at home.
We've supported many different things! One of our popular and long-running projects was our Saturday family swim project, which helped people to enjoy supported, swimming sessions at Easton pool.
Last winter we ran energy saving workshops so that people could gain skills to draft-proof their houses and save money. We hope to run more workshops in the future.
An endowment grant from Eastside Community Trust helped us to support a bonfire party for local families for many years. We are so sorry this did not happen in 2025 but hope the PTA and the school will find a way in 2026!
